People of all ages are entering the cosmetology and beauty industry. Recent high school graduates, dislocated workers or people just looking for a new career can become a licensed cosmetologist in less than one year. Cosmetology is considered to be a “recession proof industry†in a society of baby boomers that value youth and beauty. To cater to the increasing demands for skilled estheticians, we are now offering an Esthetician Program.
The United States Department of Labor and Industry predicts that employment of hair dressers, stylist, cosmetologists, and skin care specialists will increase 10 to 20 percent through the year 2010. Employment of manicurists and pedicurists is expected to increase 21 to 35 percent.
The Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology, founded in 1962 has been producing successful cosmetologists for nearly 50 years.
